We were in Georgetown for the first time to do a vintage gentleman's farm during the hottest part of this summer. The home/barn/sheds featured artwork, oils, watercolors, acrylic, many done by the owner. The owner had been a dentist but more importantly a real renaissance man capable of doing almost anything. The home also had African sculptures, Native American pieces, Eskimo pieces and lots of vintage furnishing. It was a very hot sale (in many ways).....one we will not easily forget.

The Curious Cat visited the homesite of Elizabeth How, one of the original alleged witches in the Salem territory. In its place currently Isits a beautiful reproduction early American Colonial. The home and property is oozing in history and housed many vintage and antique books about Ipswich and surrounding community. Along with many books were many pieces of artwork including British artwork much of which could be found in the British man-cave in the basement. It was a great sale!

We traveled to Dracut, the first sale we have ever done in Dracut in 15+ years, to help liquidate a beautiful home on Arbour Drive. The style was definitely modern. Some pieces were brought in by the owner from outside the home but we were fortunate to be able to liquidate the majority of the items.

This was one of the most beautiful homes we have had the pleasure of doing. Located in the shadows of Brooks School the home was full of top of the line furnishings from Arhaus to Restoration Hardware. During the sale we even got a visit from a big mother snapping turtle! We were able to sell about 95% of the items in the house so it was a very successful sale.

We traveled to the Secret Garden on Upland Rd in Andover Ma. This antique farmhouse was packed with wonderful artwork, oils, water colors, acrylic, pottery, all displayed in between fine cherry furnishings. We were able to sell or liquidate nearly every item in the home. It was one of our best sales!!!!

The Curious Cat visited the home of a Boston Globe writer and we were amazed at the contents. It was a collector's dream house. The home was full of Disney magazines and collectibles. Comic books such as MAD and horror books were found by the hundreds. We also found a huge lot of LIFE magazines from the thirties and fourties! But the most special magazine was a single 2007 reprint of the first Playboy with Marylin Monroe on the cover. You never know what you may find in a home.

Spring is trying…the crocuses are up!!!! The Curious Cat was

back in Lynnfield for its third sale in 2 months. This gorgeous

moderate sized cape house was a bit deceptive as it housed

many top of the line items and furnishings, many Ethan Allen,

Heritage, Baccarat, Henredon, Chippendale, Waterford, and more.

The home featured some mid century items along with

Americana and a beautiful Tibetan rug. Artwork by Tarr,

Gillespie, and others also graced the home.

Welcome to a new year! The Curious Cat was visiting

a winter ice-covered wonderland in Boxford. Conditions

were difficult and we even considered cancelling the

Sunday sale but we did not and we were amazed at how

Many folks came out in less than ideal conditions!

The home featured some mid century Items including

furnishings, rugs, many pieces of artwork, lamps, collectibles,

glassware and silver.

On what ended up being the coldest and icyest day of the winter of 24-25 the Curious Cat marched on with our second sale of the year. Sunday was likely the worst day weather-wise we have ever had to deal with given the snow, ice, wind and very low temperatures.....and yet, we had many folks, many friends show up to produce a very nice sales day. Over the last 10 years this sale will go down as one of our top three sales. The nondescript house was home to a very talented and intelligent woman. This was obvious to anyone who simply gazed around the home. She loved Jewelry, both fine and costume, she loved to read, the house had a thousand books, she loved vintage furnishings, Eames chair, Italian lounges.

She loved glassware and china and she loved artwork, especially Native and the Southwest. The home was so full of items we extended the sale past the normal two day sale to a two day plus an evening sale. This will always be a very memorable sale for the Curious Cat.

The Curious Cat was in Andover in late October for a wonderful Estate Sale during the most beautiful part of the year. In the early 1920s American Woolen Company (re)built Shawsheen Village built on the site of the former Frye Village of Andover, Massachusetts, to house the company's middle to upper management, near the company headquarters. Many of the furnishings, collectibles and artwork were from that era. We had a wonderful time.

The Curious Cat was in Reading in late September during the most beautiful part of the year. Prized items included an electrified doll house, a wrought iron patio set, a saxophone and tons of Lenox and Waterford Crystal. We were also able to donate a number of items to one of our favorite charities. We are looking forward to two upcoming sales. One in a gorgeous tudor townhouse in Andover in late October and then a Bohemian classic in Danvers in early November. Hope to see many of our friends there.

Wilmington was out destination in mid-June for a house and barn duo. The home boasted a ton of vinyl, likely the best lot of vinyl (both quality and quantity) we have seen at our sales. In addition, we had a dozen or more stereo items including turntables, receivers, tape decks and more. The home also had many tools, a bicycle, many wooden boxes as well as many vintage automobile plates. It was a fun sale!

If you like books this Winchester home was the place to be in mid May. Besides books it had many collectible toys, Harry Potter, Lego, CDs. Wii games, Nintendo games and more. We also had a wooden canoe and a competition bicycle. Beautiful town!

In an unusually warm February we found ourselves two blocks from the ocean in Swampscott for one of the best Estate Sales we have ever managed. The vintage home was full of original artwork, original sculptures, pre-Columbian artwork, Religious artifacts, antique rugs, furnishings, Asian vases, and much more. Many of items sold for thousands of dollars. It was a lot of hard work but well worth it. Our client was wonderful and extremely helpful throughout. A very memorable Estate Sale!

Opening the doors to this unpretentious home revealed a magnificent array of furnishings from French provincial to Asian to mid mod to vintage. Collectibles included a huge collection of Lalique along with one of the largest collections of jewelry both precious and high-end costume with silver and gold that we have seen. The artwork was also fantastic including Ertes, Hibels and many other works most of which were signed. Larger items included a pool table, a gun safe, an automobile, a 2004 Red Sox painting, a 2004 Red Sox signed baseball. The house was full of chandeliers, top of the line kitchenware, Christmas Decorations and much much more. The Curious Cat handled the set-up and 3-day liquidation sale and it was one of our most successful sales to date! If you missed it you missed a good one!

The most amazing property we have seen and it was on the coast in Rockport in the dead of winter and the at the onset of the coronavirus through we did not know that at the time. In terms of set-up time it was the most time consuming sale the Curious Cat has ever put together. Rich was our client and he has his collections spanned 3 generations, including artifact from A.Graham Bell. We had a house, 3 barns and an awesome artists cottage!

We eased back into the Summer sales season with three beautiful homes, one Westford, the second in North Andover, and the third at the Andover Country Club. Over the years the Curious Cat has hosted a full range of estate sales from hoarder houses to mega mansions, from one-day sales to full-week sales, from picker sales to auction quality sales. After the extremely successful week-long in Reading the home still contained many attractive items for sale. So we held another traditional estate sale over a long weekend in early December. This proved to be just as successful, if not more so, than the two original dates. Many more of the smaller items along with loads of china and collectible were popular at this time. Managing the sale in time of Covid for all of our dates was critical and I must say that most of our clients were very patient and polite even after having to wait in line for up to 30 minutes in not-so-ideal weather! We thank them for their patience and consideration.

Curious Cat Estate Sales had the pleasure of managing our most ambitious sale as we completed the remarkable year of 2020. This gorgeous antique home in Reading Ma was absolutely full out of antique furniture along with vintage, modern and mid modern items. Asian and nautical items were dispersed throughout the house. This home also had a generation of collectibles including ephemera, dolls and both vintage and contemporary trains. We had never seen so many kitchen items including many sets of china and incredible serving plates. A few of the antique items included a gorgeous floor model graphophone, an external horn Victrola, a Portland coal stove and many exquisite pieces of furniture. As the sale date approached the complete contents of a second home in Reading. As a result, a one weekend site evolved into a series of sales. We began with two days of appointment only sales. After several days of further of further preparing, we held a 4-day traditional sale. After a very successful week of sales the house was still full of items yet. What now?

We eased back into the Summer sales season with three beautiful homes, one in Westford, the second in North Andover and the third at the Andover Country Club. Over the years the Curious Cat has hosted a full range of estate sales from hoarder houses to mega mansions, from on-day sales to full-week sales, from picker sales to auction quality sales. What we have learned over this time is that every sale is different and every one introduces us to a new wrinkle or new issue which must be solved. Given our moderate size and flexibility we have found that focusing on one sale at a time affords us the luxury of adapting to most everything that comes our way. This Deckhouse in Wakefield gave one the impression of baring on a ship except this ship was full of antique tools, guns, swords, wagons, boxes and tons of books! This job required lots of preparation and research.. In the end, we were able to liquidate a healthy portion of the home to a state where it was ready for the market a few weeks later.

Christmas Year Round

After losing his wife after a long illness our client decided to move to Florida and really needed help organizing and liquidating his possessions of over 20 years. It was clear to us that it was a happy house with decorations for all the major holidays along with many personal works of art and crafts throughout the home. IT was mid October and he clearly had some time constraints and a tight calendar before being able to close on the house and moving to Florida with the rest of his family. The Curious Cat was able to help our client pull through this very difficult period. We wish him the very best with his family.

A Treat in Salem after Halloween

While a little outside of our normal area the Curious Cat was honored to help liquidate the home of Maestro L Paul Madore in Salem MA. After a local Estate Sale Company had to pull out of the sale due to timing issues they recommended us and we were able to work it into our schedule during a very busy time. The home was a veritable museum housing artwork and sculptress from around the world including Picasso, Dali, and Ouassa p.p.p. Though a small house it also was home to numerous carpets and furnishing garnered during his trips abroad. In the end this was a very successful sale and we wish the executor of the home many wonderful years in his friend's hime.

The Curious Cat hosted a very successful sale in mid January 2022. Ice and cold could not keep hearty folks away from this beautiful antique home filled with period furnishings such as the piece above. In addition, we were able to place a stairlift and a wheelchair ramp in nearby handicapped homes. Thanks to all those who came out. We are looking forward to the spring!

Snowy Owl Estate Sales in Conjunction with Curious Cat Estate Sale held an estate sale in Burlington Ma in mid February. After many day of storminess folks were ready to get out f the house and that they did. This remarkable sale at the homestead of Celtics great big Jim Loscutoff and his Artist wife Lynn Leon Loscutoff was one of our best of the year. You name it and it was there from Celtics collectibles, including signatures, outstanding high end painting to bronze statues, primitive furnishings, one of a kind trinkets etc. We had buyers arrive at midnight for a 9am opening!
